Apologies

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that I haven't been posting lately, and that this unexpected haitus is going to have to continue for a little while longer. My life is a bit hectic and way more stressful then it should be at this point, so I'm taking a break from some things to give myself a chance recuperate.

On the bright side, I get my license in two weeks! So that means more shopping trips, more clothes, and more places to take pictures! I'm looking forward to the freedom of that. And here's a little secret: I might get a motorcycle! I've got my dad convinced, and he's gonna help me convince my mom. If I go to Wisconsin, I'll have my cousins teach me how to drive.

So sorry again for my absence, but when I get back things will be better than ever!

Beaches and Bridges

Like almost every other Floridian, I spent Memorial Day at the beach with my family. I had to bring my camera, because we have so many cute babies in my family! But unlike other natives, I am as pale as can be. So even though I coated myself in sunscreen, I still got burned. I'm just glad I don't feel my burn so much, and that I tan afterwards. The pictures above are my little cousin and her friend. Ain't they just adorable?

After my morning at the beach, my friend DeeAnna from A Rose Coloured Masquerade and me decided to have a mini photoshoot. The theme was Alice, Light and Dark. I was the Light Alice, and the lovely Dee was the Dark Alice. She made me some lace cuffs and a lace choker, which I'm wearing.

Yes, this is the dress I wore earlier this week. But it reminded me so much of Alice's dress, so I washed it and wore it again. I wore a different button up, cause i didn't have time to wash the other one.

I know I was supposed to be Light, but I couldn't resist doing a few Dark poses as well. Turned out pretty well, don't ya think?

Ugh, more exams tomorrow. French and Geometry, niether of which I've studied for. I'm not too confident for these. Wish me luck!

bright-eyed butterfly, don't fly away

Polka-dot mini dress :: Goodwill :: 5 dollars
White button up shirt :: one of my little brother's old shirts
Black tights :: Walmart :: 4 dollars
Airwalks :: Payless :: 14 dollars
Gray jeweled headband :: Walmart :: 6 dollars

Sunday Sunday, church day church day. The one day of the week I can dress up and people don't ask why. Not that I care; I'll wear what I want, when I want.

I adore this dress. I've gotten so many compliments today! It's just a very happy, bubbly dress. I think I'm going to have to look for something a bit more colorful next time, though. My closet is becoming very dark, if not grayscale.

I am getting sick of these shoes. I really need some cuter shoes. I think I see a shopping trip in the near future!

I was in a very bouncy mood today, if that wasn't clear. I feel like you could put wings on my back and I'd be a butterfly!

Tomorrow is a beach day! I'll be spending Memorial Day at Port St. Joe Beach with my family. Unfortunately, all my friends will be at Saint George Island. Maybe I can convince my mom to stop by Goodwill, or some thrift stores.

welcome to the tea party..

wanna be my V.I.P.?

halter dress :: church thrift store :: 6 dollars
white blouse :: bealls outlet :: can't remember
airwalks :: payless :: 14 dollars

Ahh, Saturday. A day to relax after a stressful week at school. I only had to work for an hour today, and then I went to my Bushido Sempai training. It was our last Saturday of class, so it was bittersweet. I'm going back to church tonight, and then to my cousin's for another movie night. I wonder what we'll be watching tonight..

Anyway, onto my outfit. This dress is too cute. I've been told it is remeniscent of Alice in Wonderland, and I agree.

Sorry for the bad location and picture quality. I didn't have a chance to go anywhere, and I ended up having to take the pictures by myself again. If only I had my license! Just 3 more weeks..

I don't like these shoes with this outfit. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything else that worked better. I wish I had one of these pairs of shoes, from ModCloth. They are just adorable, and would work perfectly with this dress. Too bad I'm broke!

These flats are just precious with that floral print! And I'm in love with this remake of the classic Mary Jane!

when we are lost in the technicolor phase..

Denim Blouse :: Walmart :: 6 dollars
Jean Shorts :: hand-me-downs
Tights :: Walmart :: 4 dollars
Necklace :: Claire's :: 10 dollars
Airwalks :: Payless :: 14 dollars
Butterfly Belt :: local thrift store :: 50 cents

Ah, its that time of year again. Exams!! Our first day was today, and it was my hardest day. Ag, AP Biology, and Dual Enrollment World History. Ag wouldn't usually be hard, but our substitute teacher hates our class and likes to make stuff way more difficult than necessary. I'm positive I got A's on today's tests, though.

I didn't start my day dressed like this. I was originally wearing a darker distressed jean miniskirt, but I realized during my World History test that the side seam had split! I guess that's what I get for breaking the school dress code. Luckily, that was my last class for today, so I came home and changed quick before work. I'm just gonna have to fix that soon, because I love that skirt!

This belt is the most rockin belt I have ever seen. I found it in my church's thrift store, and basically had a meltdown. And for only 50 cents, there was NO way I was leaving there without it. I also bought a cute vintage-style halter dress, and some brown peep-toe heels.

By the way, sorry for the bad pictures today. I had to take them by myself, as well as in my backyard, so they aren't that great.

There is the cutest skirt for sale on Etsy. It's called the Wonderland Vintage skirt, and it's at Gina Michele Vintage. Isn't it adorable? Maybe I'll buy it, once I get my paycheck.

Welcome to the Beginning

Sun, surf, and sand. School is almost out and Florida is my playground. A perfect time for a beginning blogger, right? After some careful consideration, I've decide to jump on the bandwagon and create a style blog. Here, I can document my style and share my thoughts with the world. My closet is a menagerie of different styles, from vintage to rocker, so my outfits are always unique.

Dress :: Kohl's :: 20 dollars
Necklace :: Walmart :: 7 dollars
Shoes :: Goodwill :: 10 dollars
Scarf :: borrowed from my sister
Bracelet :: Claire's :: 7 dollars and 50 cents

I absolutely love this dress; it is so 40's chic! And the shoes are my latest buy. They have a very vintage feel, and they make me so happy. The necklace and bracelet add a modern, edgy feel to the whole ensemble. My red nails DO match the blue scarf; they are both primary colors.

I'm surprised I still looked this good after eight hours of school and two hours of work. I'm so glad my job is predominately paperwork! On the bright side, I got quite a few compliments. The old train in town was a really fun place to take pictures, even though my little sister didn't know how to use my camera (Sony a200). Climbing around that ancient locomotive in heels was a lot harder than I expected.

I'm going to be handing this dress to my friend to see what she does with it. She's a good four inches shorter than me, so this ought to be interesting.
